The Pyengana Weldborough area is an easy 30 minute drive inland from St Helens you will find the fertile valley of Pyengana. A quaint dairy community, boasting an award winning Cheese factory and one of Tasmanian oldest pubs. A few kilometers further along the road you’ll arrive at the entrance to St Columba Falls, a 90 metre-tall cascade, one of Tasmania’s highest multi-tiered waterfalls – and it is truly spectacular!
From the reserve car park, it’s an easy ten-minute stroll through the heart of an ancient temperate rain-forest studded with colossal tree ferns, sassafras, myrtle and beech trees to a swiftly flowing creek and then a slight incline brings you to the viewing platform for the falls.
Once you’ve explored Pyengana, continue along the Tasman Highway for another 20 minutes or so and you’ll stumble across the tiny village of Weldborough, also known for its exceptional pub. From here it a easy drive inland to explore the remnants of the Mount Paris Dam.
